I was definitely surprised. Maybe it’s my failing memory, but I could not remember instances of her growth with regard to her prejudices prior to her relationship with Mr. Crimmins. Although I loved seeing her branching out and being open to love outside of her usual type.

I’m not sure she would have approved of Kirby dating a black man if she hadn’t found this relationship, though. But I guess that is people, much of the time. They don’t see what is right until it affects them personally.

Yes, the ending was just beautiful! Kate was almost incapacitated with worry, but Tiger’s letter seemed to make a big difference because she understood that he found his life’s purpose. Maybe she could make her peace with his dangerous job because of this. I love that Tiger explained all of this to her, understanding how worried she must have been.

I haven’t given much thought to my favorite, probably because I found them each compelling in their own way, but Kirby’s story was probably the most interesting.

Yes, it should stay on the list! I loved it! It has been on my list for a long time. I typically read historical fiction and biography and memoir, as well as some contemporary fiction. Summer reads are not my usual genre, but this one interested me for something lighter but with substance and history. Loved!

I was interested in this author when reading about Blair’s interest in her, yes! I have so many books on my TBR list right now, though, so we’ll see!

Absolutely! I’ve read several of Hilderbrand’s novels, but this is my favorite. I love how she captured the spirit of Nantucket in the late 60s. I also thought she did a fantastic job telling the individual stories of these four women, all at different life stages, whose lives were intertwined through their shared family. Each of the storylines was compelling too! While I had my favorite one or two, I was rooting for all of them!

I think Kirby’s story was my favorite too. (It’s a hard decision!) I love her strong and independent spirit especially as it came across her in her fights for justice and the people in her life.

I really enjoyed her story but hard to say which is my favorite. I thought all the sisters had such great perspectives which added to the story. I just loved them all.

I thought the letters Tiger wrote were a great addition to the story. I am curious what everyone’s thoughts were on his letter to his mother about being a hero….it actually brought tears to my eyes.
