Also This Tender  Land-  another similar book. In Giraffes- I loved the scenes with the giraffes!

All of the books were coming of age books.  Lincoln Highway definitely hit me the hardest.  I was sooo upset when Woolly died.  People with handicaps are so discriminated against.

It is a wonderful account of a small, but true event made personal through the wonderful characters.  This is a perfect example of my love for historical fiction.  The reader can learn so much, but yet get caught up in the fictionalized details!!
