A perfect fit for the category of crossing state lines. I loved this story–the historical aspect of it as well as the personal character driven story.

I read both. Also This Tender Land- another similar book. In Giraffes- I loved the scenes with the giraffes!

All of the books were coming of age books. Lincoln Highway definitely hit me the hardest. I was sooo upset when Woolly died. People with handicaps are so discriminated against.

Absolutely! It is a perfect fit. I did not expect to enjoy this book as much as I did. The wonderful reviews in this group piqued my interest, so I had to give it a try.

It is a wonderful account of a small, but true event made personal through the wonderful characters. This is a perfect example of my love for historical fiction. The reader can learn so much, but yet get caught up in the fictionalized details!!

Did anyone else read both The Lincoln Highway and West with Giraffes? I enjoyed reading both accounts of traveling east-west before the interstates. Anyone have favorite parts of those journeys?

This was one of my favorite novels of 2022. I fell in love with those giraffes and was intrigued by the real life story of giraffes being transported during the Great Depression.

Absolutely. The author took a small event- the arrival of two giraffes that must cross the country- and developed it into a beautiful story.

Yes! Another book this month that I absolutely loved!! Thank you for these selections! This book was such an odd assortment of characters pieced together with historical elements and blended perfectly. A truly beautiful story!
