Really enjoyed. Did take me a long time to read, maybe just because it is summer time and I’m enjoying hanging out with the man more. Yes, should stay on the list. I was constantly looking things up and learning things were based on true events. Very interesting to me.

I really liked this book, but did anyone else feel that it was a bit too long? (Don’t get me wrong:I have read a lot of lengthy books.) I felt that the author could have trimmed down a bit, such as a few things when Toni was touring or parts about their childhood.

I did! I thought “oh no! The author could NOT have done that!” Thank goodness he didn’t. It was terrifying as it was!

I absolutely think it should stay. I was like Laura, however, and had a hard time finishing it. I really liked it, but I could only do about one chapter at a time before I switched to something a bit “lighter.”

I was also very upset about this. It was like she was getting revenge for Eddie enlisting. When she compared the two, I was disgusted. It wasn’t like he just did “fun things” when he was away.

Was I the only one who was really frustrated and disgusted with Adele’s behavior? Even before Eddie joined the service (as did most men during WWII), I didn’t ever feel like she was very motherly. Then, to just walk away from her kids? I would have been really resistant to letting her back into my life (or my kids’ lives) when she had a change of heart.

I think this book absolutely fit the challenge- it was full of references to NJ. I actually really enjoyed learning about the park, having loved the song Palisades Park when I was younger. Really felt like there was a lot of information that helped create a picture of the area.
