I am probably in the minority, but I did not love this book. I thought it went multiple directions without resolving several of them. I felt for the main character; I can’t imagine facing what he did. I just thought plot lines, which made sense, were introduced and then dropped.

I agree – the heart attack plot line was not necessary. The story was already intense enough.

I have to say, the description of the baby’s delivery really impacted me. Matt said that his wife’s body jumped/lurched as the baby was pulled from her. Made her seem like a vessel that held/protected the life inside! I’ve never seen a c-section, and maybe that is a very realistic description. But it stopped me short!

The addition of Adam to the trial and Matt’s heart attack was not necessary to complete the story. It just seemed to be over the top. I do believe the author was able to flesh out the characters to a point where the reader felt like they knew enough to follow and involve themselves in the story line. Overall, it was a well written book.

She should have discussed with Matt what her explicit directive would be. Even with that knowledge, he still would have been left with an untenable situation trying to figure out her wishes once he discovered she was pregnant. The pregnancy while having been certified as brain dead was a one in a million or billion thing. Nothing anyone except readers of this story would ever anticipate.

Everyone thought they were following the end of life wishes of our central character. Was there anything she should have done differently? Or was the situation impossible to predict?
