I read it last year when I was completing the state challenge.  I thought it would have been even better if I had read it shortly after publication as the social environment attention to issues were different.

I loved most all the characters and found it so relatable. You don’t need to be Latino or an immigrant to relate to what these characters are experiencing and going through.
