I saw the Tom Hanks movie when it first came out and just recently read the book. As I read, all I could see in my mind were the actors in the movie! I did enjoy both, though!

I’ve only seen the Tom Hanks version. The “adaptations” didn’t bother me. The humanity was still there and that, for me, is the essence of the book!

I love everything I’ve read by this writer. I’ve read all of his books except the last one in the Beartown series. They all take the reader on an emotional rid, with laughter and tears and frustration and compassion. I think he is the most human writer at work right now. I’d love to have a beer or a cup of tea with him!

He has a different style of writing, like everything in life, it might not be for everyone, but I would give another of his novels another chance.

Anxious People was my first Fredrik Backman book. I did enjoy A Man Called Ove. I liked the way Ove changed through his interaction with all the other characters in the book.

Ove was also my introduction to Backman, early last year. Like other readers, I enjoyed it, and I also loved Britt-Marie Was Here. I’m looking forward to the Beartown series and Anxious People as well.

I read Beartown as my first introduction to FB. I have since read A Man Called Ove, Us Against You, and My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She’s Sorry. I have Winners and Anxious People currently on my TBR shelf. I think My Grandmother Asked Me . . . is my favorite so far, though.

I didn’t know that Backman’s wife was very involved. In the movies? I enjoyed both movies very much!
