This was a good story. Yes, there are many stories constructed around the bones of rich versus poor, pregnancy, pay off and so forth. The ideas of connectivity and coincidence in determining life events makes for good discussion points. What if…

When I was going through a divorce, I read voraciously. As soon as I was home from work, I read. I read into the wee hours because that kept me from having the space to think about my situation. Reading is an escape that has sometimes evolved into a therapy.

Absolutely. Reading has always been my preferred escape from real life. Now, I use it to escape doing household chores, lol.

Many people seemed to enjoy it. I did not. It was too predictable…a story that has been told a thousand times. However, it’s a fast read. Just one girl’s opinion. YMMV

“It felt easier to lose myself in Daniel and Vera’s story than to sort out my own.” – This quote is the one I will carry with me. I agree that there are times when we read to immerse in another world, and to forget our own challenges. What do you think?

Warren seemed sick/weak earlier in the story, but by the end he was walking and visiting.. Hmm. As I was reading earlier in the novel, I thought that Daniel would somehow be related to a member of Claire’s family, (including in-laws) so that foreshadowing worked well.

I think if they had changed the ending a bit, it could have been less predictable. I thought the coffee shop guy was going to be connected somehow – like maybe his father was the missing child, and the husband’s family was somehow responsible. IDK – something to bring it all together. I definitely did NOT want her to get back together with her husband – that came out of nowhere and was poorly done.
