I can’t put my finger on what exactly bothered me about the story. Somehow first story set in the great depression, there was a modern feel to some parts. It was unsettling. However, I liked the characters and the story was engaging. Since the author wrote several other books as a continuation of this story, maybe I’m the only person in the world who felt this way about it.
