I loved this book and didn’t realize there was a movie. I will check it out!!

I loved how the author portrayed Auggie as a regular kid. I listened to the beginning on audio and the narrator was excellent!

I also liked that the author presented problems that the other characters had. And the characters were 3 dimensional. Via loved Auggie, but also wanted/needed a break from him,

Wonderful book!

Finally read this one. Really want to use it for a read aloud with my 5th graders. So much for them to learn from it.

I thought the movie followed the storyline very well and it was a great adaptation. I liked all of the casting. My kids (ages 8 and 10) nitpicked a few differences but they weren’t really plot-related. The important things were all there (including the animal death, but it felt more brief than it was in the book.)

The one difference that stuck out to me as an adult (and that I loved) was that you could see others’ reactions– particularly Auggie’s Mom (Julia Roberts). Seeing the heartache on her face really struck home for me. I’m not sure if my kids picked up on that part, LOL. Also, I felt like the Middle School Director and Mr. Brown were more fleshed out when you could see their interactions with the students.

What a beautiful story! We loved it.

I never got into this when it was popular, but this book was very uplifting. I would recommend it to anyone. Now maybe I’ll watch the movie.

I wholeheartedly agree. I taught 5th/6th grade and would have loved to share this story with my students. The audiobook was well done with children’s voices, also.

I listened with my two children (ages 8 and 10) and followed up with the movie. They enjoyed both and we had some great conversations together. The topics are “real” for parents and children alike.

We also purchased “365 Days of Wonder” which has a precept for each day of the year.

I’m so glad I chose this book! The way the author allowed us to experience Auggie, and those closest to him, through their own voices and points of view, was very powerful.

I haven’t seen the movie. For those that have, did it stay close to the storyline? Is it worth watching?

I am a retired middle school teacher. We read this as a school and had a guest speaker with the same disorder speak to the student body. It was very impactful.

I think I am too far from my middle school self or having children in the age range. I did not get as emotionally connected as I thought and even took some heat from a friend, who works in a middle school, by my rating. Maybe a better read for a younger person, than a middle age , empty nester without grandchildren, even though I gravitate towards coming of age stories.
