I did something similar. I’m doing the “standard” ICYMI challenge, picking a book from the list provided by Read with the Book Girls. And I’m also reading the annual Newbery Award books from the same year. So for January, I read the 2012 Medal book, Dead End in Norvelt by Jack Gantos. For February’s 2013 Newbery, I had already read the Medal book, so I’ve selected one of the Honor books to read.

I’ve read Dark Side of the River and loved it. I’ve enjoyed B.J. Daniels books for years. She lives in Montana and writes great mysteries with some romance. I can’t wait to learn more about the Coopers and McKennas.

Hi, I’ve been inspired by the In Case You Missed It challenge to try a personalized version of it this year. I’d been thinking I should read more books by Irish authors (I’m Irish), so I’ve picked books for each year from 2012 to 2023 to read over the next twelve months. Just finished the first one, One Hundred Names by Cecelia Ahern, published in 2012. It’s a popular-level fiction work about a journalist who’s got herself in a mess, professionally, and is trying to redeem herself by fulfilling the dying wish of her former editor and mentor. The wish revolves around a list of 100 people with no apparent connection to each other… Can Kitty find out why they are all on this list? It has a pretty happy ending for most people, and it got me out of a bit of a post-Christmas reading slump, so that’s good.

Thanks for the inspiration!

I agree with those that say life is too short to force yourself to finish a book. The one that I feel “guilty’ for never finishing is Little Women. I just can’t push through and I have an abridged copy also.. I have seen different versions of the movie but I just can’t get into the book enough.

This book narrates a murder , a mystery and a continuing feud between two Montana Powder River basin families ( the Coopers and the McKennas ) of eastern Montana . It’s set in the present time and has a bit of romance in it too.

While A RIVER RUNS THROUGH IT by Norman McClean is set in the Blackfoot River basin of northwestern Montana during the 1930’s ,where the fly fishing for bigger fish is obviously better . However , the Blackfoot basin family’s story has a bleaker ending than the Powder River basin family . So I chose to read it instead . . . A RIVER RUNS THROUGH IT is a DNF for me . What’s your opinion of this author’s book ?

I finished early for August’s decades challenge “Daisy and the Six.” It was a skip the line read. So so good. 9 hour audio book and I listened to it over 5 days. Such a unique style of writing. Audio was amazing since they had a different voice actor for each person.

I also finished for the book voyage challenge Crazy Rich Asians. It was alright. It got better as the book went on. Enough that I wanted to read more about Nick and Rachel in book two.

Also reading a YA novel Tweet Cute.

I read The Masterpiece, I Will Send Rain and The Astronaut Wives Club. These were all great reads. I loved reading The Astronauts Wives Club which read as a novel even though it was an informational text. I found myself getting invested in the lives of the women involved in this timeframe. Although there were times I struggled to keep the timelines straight. The Masterpiece is Fiona Davis… and I truly enjoy her writing style. I picked this out before I realized it would fit in the August timeline… oops! I just started reading my books for August’s USA list

Just finished “The Girl Behind the Wall” for the Decades challenge. Read a couple fake dating trope books before that and now I’m starting “Hang the Moon” by Alexandria Bellefleur for a Read Harder challenge. Also, slowly working my way through the audiobook of “Firekeeper’s Daughter”, because I only listen when I go for walks and haven’t gotten out lately.
