History vs fiction

After reading one of Fiona Davis’ books, I always come away with a new insight or two about the history of the setting.  I also like how she often ties in historical characters.  Her author’s notes are my favorite part of the book!
But I do feel as though the characters’ “relationships” are sometimes far-fetched and cheesy.
