    • Favorite character This book was filled with strong characters. I really appreciated the role Conny played in the story.  I feel he helped both physically and emotionally and helped both Jolene and Michael.   Mila- what a wise lady!  She never stopped mothering Michael and was such a good support for Jolene. Tami -  loved her role in the story. Jolene wouldn’t have made it without her.

    • Rereading this one… I read this when it first came out, and I've pulled it back off the shelf to reread. I remember *really* connecting with it at the time, but it doesn't seem to get as much... love as some of Kristin Hannah's more recent novels. I'm curious both how I'll respond to it ten years later and if and/or how her voice has changed over the years.
