This is the second book of Mark Adams I have read [the other was “Turn Right at Manchu Picchu”, which I also recommend].  Adams retraces the trek to Alaska made by John Muir and others in 1899, and relates the story of that earlier adventure as well as his contemporary one.  Engrossing, entertaining, thoughtful, yet still an easy and fun read.
