        I’ve read several of Susan Meissner’s historical novels now and every time, even if I’m familiar with the topic, I learn something new. Not only is the writing outstanding, the research is evident. The female protagonists are independent and admirable. Every time. I enjoy the fresh perspectives I get from reading her books.

          This was the first book I’ve read by her and I really enjoyed it.  I didn’t care for the main character in the beginning but my opinion sure changed after the first part and was rooting for her.
