Participant@jodifoxxIn the author’s notes at the end of the book, Katherine Center mentioned that she initially wrote Jack’s character in another career besides a movie star. She changed his career to a movie star because it seemed to work better for the storyline. What do you think? Is there another career that would have worked for Jack? Or did the story work best with him as a movie star?

Participant@shemostomperI like the book as is and I don’t know if there is another career that would work for the story.

Participant@jodifoxxI agree! Makes me curious what career he had in her first writing! My first thought was some kind of CEO maybe…has to be something that would warrant hiring a bodyguard. Maybe an oil tycoon of some kind?

Participant@melissatestOh, that would have made sense for having family in Texas. Either an Oil or Tech CEO from Austin could have worked. Normally I would have found that more relatable than a movie star, but I think the movie star career was 100% the right call for this one.

Participant@bcmomI think he had to be an actor. If he hadn’t been, I don’t think Hannah would have started questioning his feelings toward her. After all, he could create her favorite kiss ever with someone he didn’t even like! Of course, he could fool an ordinary person.

Participant@angelarathbunI think making him a movie star was really important to the story because he needed to be a widely recognizable public figure that people would have a lot of preconceived notions about.

Participant@melissaI did read where he was initially from another profession. I would be interested to know what that was, but I believe a movie star fits well. Even though we all realize that famous people really are just people too, we typically don’t treat them the same way we would treat anyone else that we just met. Fame gives them the distinction of being different than the rest of us. That was a critical element in this particular story.

Participant@jodifoxxI really liked how this book highlighted that celebrities are real people, as you mentioned.

Participant@pamfI think it was great he was an actor. This made him a good candidate for a stalker/someone being obsessed with him

Participant@ldibaccoGood question! I think it would have to be someone “well-known” enough to be recognized to make the story work. I wonder what else she was considering.
