        Am I misremembering (the book was too long for me to find it again), but I thought that Jimmy asked Vivien if she had children and she said she couldn’t .  It was when they were visiting the orphan hospital and Jimmy felt so bad for asking he brought her the picture as an I’m sorry for being insensitive gift.

        if so, how did she have her Nicholson family?

        please confirm or explain.  THANKS

          Later on she says that Henry won’t let her have children or anything that will take her attention away from him.
          I wondered this too earlier on.

              Thanks!!  That explains it, perfectly.  I do now remember it and certainly consistent with abuser behavior.
